With wedding season coming to a close, I found myself with a little extra time to enjoy my rental life in the Chi. So with my little breather, I began reflecting on the past eight months of 2010 and wondering how I stacked up against those resolutions I made all the way back in January.
As it turns out, I have already completed six of the ten resolutions I had made. Not bad! So, feeling ambitious, I decided to create a new set of resolutions to complete before the end of 2010 - who says you have to wait until the New Year? Carpe Diem!
- Save up. I will save $50 a week from now to the end of 2010. Hopefully, these savings will at the very least help me recover a bit from my travel-packed summer and help me loosen the strings on my tight budget.
- Volunteer. I will volunteer at least once a month. I’m thinking the Trio Animal Foundation or PAWS. Any other recommendations?
- Shop Smarter. I will avoid 90% of frivolous purchases, spend my money wisely and maybe try to build up my credit a little more. This may require another visit to the Williampaid Simple Savings Calculator and Credit Score Estimator.
- Hit the Gym. I will work out or do some form of exercise everyday. Ok, so this one is recycled from my previous list, but I get credit for trying, right? Also, I think I’ll try something new. What are your favorite ways to work out?
- Visit someplace new. I will visit at least one new place each month. It can be a restaurant, a museum, an attraction, etc., but it has to be a place in Chicago I’ve never been. What places have you not yet seen in your city?
Hopefully, these five resolutions will help me close out 2010 with a bang. Have you kept your resolutions and if not, which ones would you like a second try with?
