Preparing to Sign a Lease

Posted on August 18, 2009 in: Renter Resources

Picture finding the perfect apartment for you and your roommates. Enough space, everyone is happy with the location, the right price and the move in date you are looking for. What’s next? Signing a lease can be a bit tricky if you and your roommates are unprepared. Many landlords will ask for a driver’s license or state ID, verification of employment, social security number as well as references. Depending on the location, landlords might be forced to choose other candidates over you and your roommates if they can hand in their applications faster. Because of this, it is important to be fully prepared.

Before you even consider signing a lease, you should make sure that you trust your future roommates with the responsibility of rent payment. Have they made mistakes in the past financially? This might hinder you from obtaining that dream apartment. One of the key components of signing a lease is the credit report that your future landlord will run. Because your roommates’ names will also be on the lease, their credit reports will also be a factor as to whether or not you will be able to get the apartment.

Nevertheless, you can still rent an apartment with little credit history, it’s what you do after that can get you a better apartment in the future. While paying your rent on time does not affect your credit score in any way, WilliamPaid’s Build Your Credit Score program does in fact help you build your credit. While paying your rent on time currently doesn’t affect your credit score, using WilliamPaid’s program allows you to report your rent payments to build your credit. Now you’re on your way to building credit and more financial independence

Being a demanding blogger, I’m dazzled to see others taking initivative and contributing to the community. I would like to comment to show my appreciation for your blog as it’s very encouraging, and many writers do not get acceptance they deserve.
