5 Things for Renters to be Thankful for this Thanksgiving

Posted on November 24, 2010 in: Lindsey | Living the life

Thanksgiving Group

Thanksgiving is now only a day away, and many renters have been dreaming of turkey and scrambling to prepare for this busy holiday. However, since I will only be attending the feasts, I headed back to the roots of the holiday to give thanks for one heck of a year. Here’s a list of things many renters can be thankful for.

  • Affordable Rent: Any renter, who has ever struggled making rent payments, knows how essential having an affordable rent payment can be. After all, being able to make these important payment means the difference from having a roof over our heads (no matter how small) and struggling on the streets - a place on one ever wants to find himself or herself.
  • Good Landlord: Having a good and responsive landlord is a luxury that not all renters enjoy. I definitely feel lucky to have found my “rose amongst the thorns.” A management company manages my property and the onsite manager does a wonderful job of taking care of any problems and keeping the building in great condition.
  • Online Rent Payments: After a bad experience with paying my rent last year, I am very thankful to be able to make my payments online through WilliamPaid. Paying my rent online took all the stress out of the process and provided me with a dependable history of all my payments, which is much nicer than he said she said delivery dates.
  • A Place of My Own: No parents to tell me to pick up my clothes. No siblings to get into my things. No roommates to steal my food. Yep, having a place of my own is definitely something to be thankful for - not to mention I get to add my own flair.
  • Friendly Neighborhood: Living in a safe, welcoming neighborhood with friendly neighbors and any service I could possible need at my fingertips has definitely been something I’ve been most thankful for since moving to the city. No more twenty-minute drives to pick up a gallon of milk, and I don’t have to be afraid to leave my apartment and walk down the street - definitely thankful for that.

I couldn’t leave out one last tiny thing to be thankful for:

Grandma’s Thanksgiving Dinner! What would Thanksgiving be without a table full of turkey, ham, stuffing and my personal favorite - sweet rice! This renter is definitely ready to take a break from her Ramen diet and enjoy some good ole homecookin’! What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?
