Are you the Roommate Others Love to Hate Quiz

Posted on February 9, 2010 in: Roommate Relationships

Are all of your roommates talking about you behind your back? Take our quiz and find out exactly how wonderful of a roommate you really are.

1. When it comes to sharing, your philosophy is:

a. Share and Share Alike
b. Separation of Church and State
c. What’s Mine is Mine and What’s Yours is Mine

2. On the clean scale, I am:

a. Familiar with Clorox.
b. Borderline OCD.
c. A candidate for the show “Hoarders.”

3. I view my roommate’s significant other as:

a. Hands off.
b. My soul mate - and they are breaking up anyway.
c. Better than match.com.

4. Socially, I:

a. Can hold my own.
b. Shun social events at our apartment and hide in my room.
c. Am the life of the party - at every party.

5. With a secret:

a. It’s in the vault.
b. Secret? Oops - did you say it was a secret?
c. I now have even more ammo to get what I want.

6. On moving day, I:

a. Worked with my roommates to clean and find the best place for everything.
b. was MIA.
c. Staked claim to the largest room and had all of my things moved and arranged before anyone else arrived.

7. When rent is due, I:

a. Collect rent from my roommates and deliver it to the landlord - before it is due.
b. Mail my payment in sometime around the first.
c. Run for the hills. If they can’t find me, they can’t make me pay.

Each “b” answer gives you one point, and each “c” answer gives you two. You get a free ride on “a” answers.

So, it’s the moment of truth. Here’s how you are as a roommate.

If your total was less than eight, pat yourself on the back. You are a dream roommate. You’re considerate and an all-around great roomie.

If your total was between nine and twelve, you could probably work on being a better roommate. You aren’t necessarily “that” roommate, but you could clean up your act.

If your total was more than twelve, consider living on your own because you are a disaster of a roommate. Go directly to the store and buy every roommate you have ever had a gift of thanks for putting up with you. Shape up.
