The new ABC Family comedy, Roommates, has us nodding our heads in agreement and laughing. Roommates follows a group of friends in New York City trying to figure out love and life in their post-collegiate years. Their blog and cast confessionals, like this video about “roommate etiquette” are spot on. It’s always interesting – and amusing – to hear both sides of the story.
Sounds like the cast of Roommates needs a good relationship counselor. Williampaid.com is happy to help! A few weeks ago, Dr. Jeffrey A. Fishbein, a Licensed Clinical/Sport Psychologist and Williampaid.com Advisory Board member, shared his roommate etiquette tips on Williampaid.com’s blog. In his blog post titled, “Ways to Build a Good Roommate Relationship” Fishbein offered 5 proactive roommate relationship building tips: (1) Be supportive of your roommate. (2) Be aware of the impact that your behavior has on your roommates feelings. (3) Have compassion for your roommate’s mistakes and weaknesses. (4) Avoid being selfish and self-centered. (5) Avoid neglecting your relationship with your roommate.
Of course, it’s always easier to read about solutions than it is to implement them in daily life.
So many people could tell Roommates’ screenwriters a thing or two about your real life roommate horror stories, and the steps they took to avert (or avenge?) your roommate crisis du jour.
Got any great roommate stories? (And who doesn’t?) Post them here, or email us at [email protected].

Thank you
Thank you! I would now go on this blog every day!
Thank you
Well the read was worth the headache it caused me to view it. Absolutely insane how many hoops I had to jump through to read your page. Never ever emigrate to Uzbekistan, the most random weblogs are blocked by our ISP’s for no discernable reason.
Damn, awesome website. I actually came across this on Bing, and I am happy I did. I will definately be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the posts here and bring a bit more to the table, but am just absorbing as much info as I can at the moment.
