Apartment Ratings: Protecting Against Renter’s Remorse

Thanks to a little thing called the Internet, a trend has emerged that has altered the relationships between businesses and their clients forever. What is this trend you ask? Consumer-ratings websites. Customers now have the ability to express their opinions on everything imaginable from services to products to restaurants and more.

Luckily for renters, the real estate and rental industry has joined in as well with apartment-rating websites. Through such sites, renters have gained extra leverage in the struggle that is apartment hunting and renting. They can now get an inside look at what it may be like to live in a building of interest, or they can share a few opinions of their own, which could greatly affect their landlord’s leasing capabilities.

My appreciation for such forums grew this past week when I stumbled across an apartment-rating site that saved me from a few potential headaches of my own. As many of you may already know, I am currently searching for a new apartment, so I decided to read a few reviews for a building that I was interested in but had a few suspicions against.

As it turned out, the deal was too good to be true after all. The building had a 50% approval rating with countless complaints of rude management, delayed repairs and bedbugs. Yikes! Thanks to a little curiosity and the many reviews, I saved myself from signing a lease that I would have been regretting later.

The only downside to discovering this treasure trove of renter insights is that I have now added another step in the already tedious process of apartment hunting. However, a little extra research will be worth it when I find a place that passes not only the affordability test but also achieves quality status as well.

If you are currently searching for a new apartment or are just curious to see what kind of ratings your building has earned, check out apartmentratings.com or apartmentreviews.net and browse to your heart’s content. Have you ever been saved from renter’s remorse by using apartment-rating sites like these?
