140 or Less: Neighbors

Posted on January 8, 2010 in: William Paid Updates

Neighbors. Unless you want to live in the middle of nowhere, you are going to deal with neighbors. Of course, there are good points to having neighbors, and there are drawbacks.

Among the advantages of having neighbors is that, with the right neighbors, you can really have a sense of community. And, you have someone close (but not too close) in the event of an emergency. Over time, neighbors can also become great friends. Of course, they also make great fodder for sit-coms (think Kramer, Wilson, the Ropers).

On the downside, even though you aren’t living with them, sometimes it may seem like that. Bad music, strange smells and odd behavior somehow permeate walls - no matter how thick.

While we know it can be a mixed bag, today we are going to focus on the positive. And, there is a lot of it out there. It seems that blizzard-like conditions can bring out the best in many.

Here’s what you had to say about your neighbors in your words - in 140 or less.

@yo_ben_yo I just watch me elderly neighbor fall over and make a snow angel in her yard. Ymaoo

@jswo It looks like my neighbor snowblowed a walking path up my driveway this morning. Thanks neighbor, it’s a start!

@SpotLIghtUrbMag THANK YOU! Asked a neighbor for a spare blanket for the homeless and they gave me $50…THANK YOU! So TARGET or WAL-MART???

@ShereenNicole Awwwww my neighbor shoveled the whole L for me!!!! N cleaned off my car!!! Bless that man!!

loanbaker my recipe makes two loaves - more than we can eat - I like to do a “random act of baking” and surprise a neighbor when still warm

IlliniPHil There is a good neighbor plowing peoples’ driveways on our street. I wonder if he’ll plow mine?

@davidmudd Neighbor snow blowed my drive this morning. Wow. Speechless. Thanks neighbor. My back is thankful as well.

Thanks, neighbors. Remember, the best way to have good neighbors is to be a good neighbor.
