It’s Spring and I, along with millions of you out there am moving!! I recently sold my house and decided to rent instead of buy. Did I lose money and did it take a long time to sell, you ask? Well, it took about 90 days to sell and it felt like an eternity. Selling a house in this market is no easy task, but I did it! I did sell it for less than I paid for it but at a better price than others seem to have gotten for their homes. So, I am grateful.
Like many people out there renting and paying rent online, I am joining the ranks of the WilliamPaid user. I’m taking this big change in my life and downsizing while making better and more affordable life decisions – cleaning out my financial house, if you will.
While I already pay many of my bills online, I can now add paying rent online to that list. I don’t want to be worried every month about paying rent to a landlord and making sure the check gets there on time. I will also have peace of mind knowing that if I’m short one month, I can rely on WilliamPaid’s FlexPay option to pay rent with a credit card or any bank account.
I also took some of my own advice from an earlier post of what to ask a landlord before renting. First, I made sure to establish a good rapport with the landlord as this helps when asking for things that might be somewhat out of the norm. In the end, I persuaded my landlord to paint the whole apartment with colors I chose; bring in a cleaning service before I move in; and now he’s allowing me to store some of my stuff in the building’s basement without my having to put everything in a storage locker and paying for it. All good, right?
I’ve already contacted all of the utilities – cable, phone, electricity and gas and scheduled turn offs in my house and connections in the new place. I will call all of them again a few days before I move just to make sure nothing gets screwed up. If you are planning to move soon, I recommend you do the same!
Moving Day is a little more than a week away and I still have lots of boxes to pack. I will be in touch in a few days and update you on my trials and tribulations. Wish me luck!
