It’s done! I’m in my condo. We officially made the move a few days ago and well, I’m fried. No one tells you what a nightmare downsizing is from a house to a condo and of course, I’ve blocked the pain from the last move.
I’ve paid off all my bills – cleaning my financial house, if you will. It’s a great feeling. Now, I’m sure I’ll see my credit score improve even more.
To complete my move, I threw out 30 (yes, I counted) large garbage bags filled with extraneous things that weren’t useful and not worthy of donating. I had a garage sale where I sold a sectional sofa, desks, a dresser, glassware etc. I donated another sofa that I couldn’t sell along with a large mirror.
The movers arrived in the early morning and nine hours later we were in our new condo. Did everything fit after all that purging? No! I couldn’t believe it. We are forced to be creative in how we organize our new home. I’ll definitely post a blog in the near future about organization in an apartment. It’s an art, for sure.
I did take care of confirming all of my utilities for the new place and registered to pay rent online with WilliamPaid beginning June 1st. Of course the cable company had the order wrong and I had to review the order again with them. Otherwise, everything went fairly smoothly.
I love my new ‘hood. More urban than where I was living, nice, interesting people and lots of dogs. Walking your dog is a great way to meet neighbors. It’s easier to meet others by introducing your dogs to each other and less uncomfortable than if you just stopped on the sidewalk and just randomly started talking to each other.
I’ll report back in a month or so and let you know how my family and I have acclimated to being renters.
