Roommates Who Rock: Thanks For the Little Things

Posted on November 20, 2009 in: Roommates in the News

In this week’s WilliamPaid Roommates Who Rock, we are taking off our hats to those roommates who do the little things. To be sure, there is much roommate venting (trashing?) on the social media sites. Twitter, FaceBook and blogs are filled with remarks about the nasty things roommates do. But, if you look hard enough (okay, really hard), you will find the nice mentions, too.

So, at this season of thanks, we thank you, roommates. We also thank the roommates who are thoughtful enough to send thanks to their roomies. Maybe what they say is true – to have a good roommate, be a good roommate.

See if you made the list:

@aplusk greatful for my roommate!

@curet16 well instead of the fashion show last night, i waited in the hospital with my roommate because she fell and had a concussion

@E_LoBombshell I’m soooooo proud of my roommate @Kristen_Durkin for getting into grad school at NYU!!!!!!!!

@ohnvm I had to kill a spider for my roommate because she’s phobic and it was legitimately, like, large and I kind of want to die D: D: D:

@wingedwords oh my god I just had to kill the biggest spider ever for my roommate no seriously its body was the size of a pea ahhh I could feel it squish

@Z28Chick What the f#$%? Roommate made me breakfast……….

@jdot321 wishin my roommate a happy 21st day!! gonna try to make it da best i can for her!!

@pumpkinbri13 I seriously have the best ex-roommate ever. She always helps me when i fall short; LUCKY ME!

@the_sweetrelief My adorable roommate from the first semester of college just sent me a message. Ooh, I have missed her, too.

@SimplyPhilippe OMG I have the best roommate, he bought the poptarts I’ve been talking about 4ever, but can never find. Thanks roomie

@curbee Nearly missed registration. Thank you kindly roommate for waking me.

@heatherlynnde thinking that it’s pretty wonderful to wake up at 5 to write an exam and be met by a roommate who went to tim’s to get you a coffee! thanks!

Inspired? Do something nice. Debbie Tenzer has written a book and has a website dedicated to the little things that may give you some ideas. Or, maybe just work on being a better roommate.

Let us know how great your roommate is. Email us at [email protected] or post a comment directly to this blog. Tell us before November 30, 2009, and you and your roommate will each receive five extra entries in our Free Rent Sweepstakes (be sure to include both your and your roommate’s email addresses so we can let you know if you win).

You did not ask for permission to use my tweet, please remove it. I do not want to be affiliated with this shady site. You have until Friday the 27th.

    Thank you,

    Morio -

We apologize if we offended you by using your twitter post in our blog. We’ve received very positive feedback, but have honored your request to remove your reference. Just so you know, any postings made on a social networking site are deemed in the public domain. We certainly had no intention to cause any discontent. We simply wanted to recognize positive roommate relationships.

We are troubled by your reference to our website being shady. Our mission is to provide renters and roommates with resources that to date, have been unavailable to them. We have a team of renown Board of Advisors that has been recognized nationally for their work in this area, as well as, our internal team that has spent the better part of the last 14 years in this space.

Again, we apologize and I invite you to email me if you would like to discuss further.

    Best,
